Why DataNerds exists
Organisations adopt AI without visibility over what they are bringing in. The help they find is usually either legal or technical, rarely both. A lawyer can name the obligations but does not see the systems operate. An IT provider sees the systems but does not qualify them.
DataNerds was built to bring the two together. We map what is actually running, have it qualified legally by lawyers, and test in practice whether the controls do what the documentation claims.
How DataNerds came about
Incorporation
LOOX BV incorporated. DataNerds is the trading name under which the activities are conducted.
First change of direction
Development began on a compliance engine to automate our own operations.
Trade mark registration
The DataNerds figurative mark filed with the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property, classes 35 and 41.
Second change of direction
The decision to focus on the corporate legal market and AI.
From this came the concept for Thor: automation that runs on the organisation's own infrastructure rather than on a public cloud.
First engineer
An AI engineer, MSc Computer Science KU Leuven with a specialisation in artificial intelligence, joined to work on the technical architecture of Thor.
Architecture recorded
The technological blueprint, the data architecture and the business case filed as an i-DEPOT with BOIP under number 159039, under the name "Sovereign AI Solutions, architecture and business case".
This provides evidence of priority with a fixed date.
Working with a law firm
Engagement letter signed with a law firm at the Leuven bar for the legal risk assessments under the EU AI Act.
Legal qualification therefore comes from lawyers, acting in their own name and under their own professional indemnity insurance.
Audit
The audit practice established as the first service and as the fixed entry point:
first map what an organisation is actually running and have that qualified legally, and only then build.
The methodology is set out in an internal working document with fixed phases, fixed criteria, and defined limits on what may be claimed.
Advisory board
The advisory board formed: over ten years of CIO and CDIO experience in international organisations, ecosystem development, and executive coaching.
At each decision point, the proposal is put to the board first.
